Zulassung zum Studium - MSc.

(1) Admission to the Master's program in Geosciences is open to students who have completed at least six semesters of a Bachelor's program in Geosciences with 180 credit points (CP) or a comparable program.

(2) A further admission requirement is proof of:

- At least 20 CPs in courses in physics, chemistry and/or mathematics.
- At least 10 CPs in courses related to Earth sciences.

(3) Applicants who have not completed their degree or Bachelor's degree at an English-speaking institution Bachelor's degree or have English as their native language, must have a knowledge of the English language at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The following certificates are recognised: TOEFL 550 (written), 215 (computer-based), 79 (internet-based), or IELTS 6.0 or better, a German Abitur or comparable proof.

(4) Applicants who wish to specialise in Applied Geology and who do not speak German as their native language or do not have their qualification or their Bachelor's degree from a German-speaking institution, additionally require German language skills at the level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The knowledge is certified by TestDAF 4x4 or the DSH 2 when registering for the modules.

(5) Admission to the Master's degree program in Geosciences may be subject to conditions, provided that these do not exceed 30 CP. The requirements and the time of their fulfilment shall be determined by the examination board.

(6) Admission to the Master's degree program is not possible for those who have definitely failed a Master's degree program in the subject Earth Sciences or a related or comparable course of study at a scientific university. 

(7) The examination board shall determine whether the admission requirements for the Master's degree program according to Paragraph 1 to 3 are fulfilled.
