Tectonics and Resources
The research area Tectonics and Resources investigates the genesis of Precambrian orogens and the formation of hydrothermal ore deposits. For our research, we use different geological subdisciplines, including metamorphic and magmatic petrology, (isotopic) geochemistry, and structural geology, to study the tectonic evolution of ancient mountain belts and to develop a better understanding of the interplay between fluid-rock interaction, deformation, and the formation of ore deposits. Other current research projects focus on the cooling history of igneous rocks using diffusion geochronometry and the use of vanadium isotopes as potential redox tracers.
