Jonathan Bedford studierte Geowissenschaften an der University of Leeds, UK, und der US-amerikanischen Colorado School of Mines. Für seine Doktorarbeit forschte er am GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ) in Potsdam und an der Freien Universität Berlin. 2015 schloss er seine Promotion ab und war anschließend als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am GFZ tätig. 2022 wechselte er als Forschungsgruppenleiter ans Institut für Geologie, Mineralogie und Geophysik der RUB.
